1 confirmed dead in helicopter crash in Daegu, S. Korea

SEOUL - A helicopter crashed in Daegu, South Korea during efforts to contain a wildfire on Sunday, according to Yonhap News Agency.

One pilot was confirmed dead, who was on board at the time of the crash, said Yonhap.

The helicopter was deployed to put out the wildfire at 3:41 pm local time and crashed about 100 meters away from the fire site.

On Sunday, a total of five helicopters were mobilized to extinguish the forest fire.

Local police and relevant authorities plan to conduct a related investigation as soon as the site is cleared up, Yonhap reported quoting firefighting authorities.
