Security Secretary Chris Tang Ping-keung unveiled "Andy” and “Security Bear" as the Security Bureau’s national security ambassadors on Monday, a day before Hong Kong’s 10th National Security Education Day on April 15. The duo will meet the public during the event, Tang said.
Since April 6, the city's six disciplined services departments and two auxiliary services departments have been releasing videos daily for nine days, showcasing items representing their efforts to safeguard national security. In a video released by the Security Bureau on Monday, Tang appointed Andy, a cartoon boy, and Security Bear, the Bureau's mascot, as the Bureau's ambassadors for promoting national security.
Beyond National Security Education Day, there are plans to feature the characters on television, in movies and in upcoming books.
In previous videos, each department introduced representative items that their departments have developed. Among them are the Police Force’s “National Security Education Day cum Police Museum Open Day”, and the Fire Services Department “National Security Education cum Resource Centre”, featuring a national security-themed fire truck.
