HONG KONG – Hong Kong experienced its hottest day of the year so far on Tuesday as temperatures across the city climbed above 30 degree Celsius with this year’s first hot weather warning issued.
The Hong Kong Observatory issued the very hot weather warning at 1:45 pm. According to HKO, the temperature in most of the areas as of 2:50 pm was recorded above 30°C, with the highest temperature of 35.6°C recorded in Sheung Shui. The temperature at Hong Kong Wetland Park in the northwestern New Territories also read 35.4°C at the same time.
Early morning, relative humidity in Hong Kong dropped to below 30 percent. This prompted HKO to issue a Red Fire Danger Warning at 6 am, indicating an extremely high risk of fire.

The weather was mainly fine and very hot during the day, with relatively low visibility under the influence of a dry continental airstream and the sand and dust weather, the city’s weather forecaster said.
It is expected to become relatively humid in the following couple of days, and hot during the day with a trough of low pressure likely to bring showers towards the weekend. It will weaken early next week, HKO adds.
