BEIJING - A total of 33.85 million railway passenger trips were made during the May Day holiday travel rush from April 30 to May 5, according to the China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. (China Railway).

The country's railways recorded an average of about 5.64 million daily passenger trips during the period, said China Railway Wednesday.
The number of daily passenger trips served by China's railways reached 7.37 million on May 1, a record daily high since the Lunar New Year.

An average of 7,153 passenger trains were put into service per day during the holiday travel rush, according to China Railway.
