BEIJING — Guangzhou Evergrande head coach Fabio Cannavaro has expressed misgivings about the shape of both Paulinho and Anderson Talisca who are struggling to find form, with the Chinese Super League new season to start in less than two weeks.

Talisca completed the mandatory 14-day quarantine on Sunday, 10 days after his fellow Brazilian Paulinho joined up with the CSL champions. Their match fitness is a major worry for Cannavaro.

"Paulinho took part in 10 training sessions, eight of them were about body training, and Talisca has yet to train with the team," said Cannavaro.

"I think they can regain their best form at the end of this season," the Italian said.

The truncated 2020 CSL campaign will see 16 teams split into two groups, with each group of eight sides to be based in the same hotel in order to play a tournament style league behind closed doors.

Guangzhou Evergrande will be based in the northeastern city of Dalian and play twice a week during the first phase of the CSL from July 25 to September 28.

The unprecedented format of this season is a challenge for every team, said Cannavaro.

"Most of the players did not play a competitive match since last December, and some teams' foreign players are still under quarantine. I can say all the teams are facing many problems," he said.
