The US is running against principles of a market economy and displaying double standards by holding a presumption of guilt for Chinese tech companies without providing any evidence, Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said on Monday.
He said China firmly opposed US threats against relevant Chinese tech companies, urging the US side to stop politicizing economic issues and abusing the concept of national security
Wang made the statement after US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Sunday the US government will take action on a broad array of Chinese-owned software companies, including TikTok, that pose "national security risks".

Such moves would run counter to the principles of a free-market economy and violate the World Trade Oorganization principles of openness, transparency, and non-discrimination. They also revealed the US hypocrisy in so-called "upholding fairness and freedoms" and its typical double standards, Wang said at a press briefing.
He said China firmly opposed US threats against relevant Chinese tech companies, urging the US side to stop politicizing economic issues and abusing the concept of national security.
"We call on those in the United States to heed the voices from the international community, provide an open, fair, just and non-discriminatory environment for market entities of other countries to invest and operate in the United States, stop politicizing trade and economic issues, and stop promoting discrimination and policies of exclusion through abusing the concept of national security," said Wang.
