Virus: No local cases in Chinese mainland, 22 imported

BEIJING - Chinese health authorities said Monday that no new COVID-19 cases transmitted locally were reported Sunday across the Chinese mainland.

A total of 22 newly reported imported cases were posted on the mainland, the National Health Commission said in its daily report.

Out of all the new imported cases, eight were reported in Guangdong, four in Yunnan, three each in Shanghai and Shaanxi, two in Sichuan, and one each in Fujian and Shandong, the commission said

Two new suspected imported cases were also reported, the commission said, adding that there were no reports of any additional deaths related to the disease.

Another 28 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery, the commission said, and there were 612 patients who were still being treated, with 30 in severe condition.

By the end of Sunday, a total of 2,300 imported cases had been reported on the mainland. Of them, 2,098 had been discharged from hospitals after recovery while 202 remained hospitalized, with none in serious condition. No deaths from imported cases had been reported.

As of Sunday, a total of 84,849 confirmed cases had been reported on the mainland, including 79,603 recoveries and 4,634 deaths.

There were still four suspected cases left on the mainland, the commission said.

According to the commission, 19,207 close contacts were still under medical observation after 1,517 were released from observation.

Also on Sunday, 37 new asymptomatic cases, including 36 from outside the mainland, were reported and one asymptomatic case was re-categorized as a confirmed one.

The commission said 351 asymptomatic cases, including 209 from outside the mainland, were still under medical observation.

By Sunday, 4,480 confirmed cases including 69 deaths had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), together with 46 confirmed cases in the Macao SAR and 484 cases including seven deaths in Taiwan.

A total of 3,549 COVID-19 patients in the Hong Kong SAR, 46 in the Macao SAR, and 450 in Taiwan had been discharged from hospitals after recovery.
