NEW DELHI - The Supreme Court of India on Wednesday ordered the country's top investigation agency, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), to look into the mysterious death of film actor Sushant Singh Rajput in June.

His family members raised doubts over his death and asked the central government to ensure an impartial investigation.
On Wednesday, the country’s top court also directed the Maharashtra state government to assist the CBI investigation.

Over the past two months, the Bihar police bickered with the Mumbai police over Rajput's death case, with the former accusing the latter of botching the case by failing to do a proper investigation.
Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate, which investigates money laundering offenses, interrogated several persons, including Rajput’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty, regarding several transactions involving his bank accounts.
