The video series reviews the guidelines of "one country, two systems" and the origin of the Basic Law. It also examines the safeguard of institutions under the Basic Law, and analyzes the ways the Basic Law enables the HKSAR to preserve its strengths and its citizens to enjoy their pleasant livings in some 20 years since the return to the motherland, the spokesman said.
The videos are available on the webpage of the Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau, the thematic webpage of the 30th anniversary of the promulgation of the Basic Law, and the bureau's Facebook page.
To enhance the public's understanding of the Basic Law, the government has organized a series of activities to promote the Constitution and the Basic Law to different sectors earlier this year, including launching web games in March and an online exhibition in April, and hosting a webinar in June, the spokesman said.
The Basic Law was adopted by the National People's Congress and promulgated on April 4, 1990. It came into effect on July 1, 1997, when the HKSAR was established.
