BEIJING - No new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases were reported Wednesday across the Chinese mainland while seven new imported cases were posted, the National Health Commission said Thursday.
Of the new imported cases, two were reported in Liaoning, another two in Shanghai, and one each in Jiangsu, Guangxi and Shaanxi, the commission said in its daily report.

No new suspected cases or additional deaths related to the disease were reported, the commission said.
Eight more patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery, said the commission, adding that there were 167 others still being treated.
By the end of Wednesday, a total of 2,765 imported cases had been reported on the mainland. Of them, 2,598 had been discharged from hospitals after recovery while 167 remained hospitalized, with three in severe condition. No deaths from the imported cases had been reported.

So far, a total of 85,314 confirmed cases had been reported on the mainland, including 80,513 recoveries and 4,634 deaths, the commission said.
There was no suspected cases on the mainland, the commission said, while 6,865 close contacts were still under medical observation after 583 were released from observation.
Twenty new asymptomatic cases, all from outside the mainland, were reported, and no asymptomatic cases were re-categorized as confirmed ones, according to the commission.
It added that 402 asymptomatic cases, all from outside the mainland, were still under medical observation.

By the end of Wednesday, 5,049 confirmed cases, including 104 deaths, had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), together with 46 confirmed cases in the Macao SAR and 509 cases, including seven deaths, in Taiwan.
A total of 4,749 COVID-19 patients in the Hong Kong SAR, 46 in the Macao SAR, and 480 in Taiwan had been discharged from hospitals after recovery.
