HONG KONG – Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor tested negative for the coronavirus, Chief Executive's Office told China Daily in an email reply.
Lam was tested for the virus after attending a music performance on Oct 9 where a musician was later confirmed as infected.
Lam’s office said the Hong Kong leader had been tested more than once over the past two days and the results all returned negative.
The city’s Centre for Health Protection (CHP) revealed on Wednesday that a Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra musician, who staged performances on Oct 9 and 10 at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, tested preliminarily positive for the virus.
More than 90 musicians, who were involved in the same performances without wearing face masks, were classified as close contacts and arranged to quarantine facilities, according to the CHP. All the audience were advised to take virus tests.
