HONG KONG - Hong Kong reported nine new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, including three locally transmitted cases, one of which was of unknown origin.
The case with an unknown origin involved a 36-year-old man who lived at Yan Wo Yuet Building in Causeway Bay and worked at Garden Road in Central, Chuang Shuk-kwan, head of the communicable disease branch of the Centre for Health Protection (CHP), said at a press briefing.

The patient last visited his workplace on Thursday, a day before he developed symptoms, Chuang said. During the incubation period, he played soccer and basketball with his friends, and went to Bar De Luxe in Central.
Meanwhile, an infection cluster related to a hotel staycation at Seaview Holiday Resort in Mui Wo saw two more confirmed patients and two persons who tested preliminary positive, bringing the total of infections in this group to seven, according to Chuang.

One of the new confirmed patients in the cluster was a student at Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education’s Tsing Yi campus, which has to undergo thorough cleaning.
The rest of Tuesday’s new infections included three imported cases the United Kingdom, and one each from the United States, the Philippines and Indonesia.
Hong Kong’s total number of coronavirus cases stood at 5,345, according to the CHP.

Meanwhile, the government has included Turkey in its list of high-risk areas for COVID-19 infection. Starting Nov 13, travelers from Turkey must provide documents showing they tested negative for COVID-19 and their reservation for a hotel in Hong Kong.
The other countries on the list are Bangladesh, Belgium, Ethiopia, France, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, Russia, South Africa, the UK and US, according to the government.
The Food & Health Bureau noted that the global COVID-19 epidemic situation was becoming increasingly severe, with the daily number of new cases rising from around 70,000 to 100,000 between late March and mid-May, around 220,000 to 290,000 in late July, and to around 550,000 in October.
As of Tuesday, a total of 93 confirmed patients were being treated in 19 public hospitals in Hong Kong, including nine patients in critical condition and four in serious, according to the Hospital Authority.
