BEIJING/HOHHOT - China's National Health Commission said Wednesday that it received reports of nine newly confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Chinese mainland Tuesday, including two domestically transmitted cases and seven imported ones.
All the local cases were reported in the city of Manzhouli in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region, the commission and local health authorities said.
Among them, one patient was re-categorized from a previously reported asymptomatic case, according to the local health authorities.
Of the seven new imported cases, three were reported in Guangdong while Shanghai, Fujian, Henan and Shaanxi saw one case each, the National Health Commission said

One new suspected imported case was posted in Shanghai, the commission said, adding that there were no newly reported deaths.

Another 18 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery, while 268 others were still receiving treatment, including eight in severe condition, according to the commission.
By the end of Tuesday, a total of 3,873 imported cases had been reported on the mainland. Among them, 3,638 had been discharged from hospitals while 235 remained hospitalized. No deaths had been reported among the imported cases.
Overall, a total of 86,551 confirmed cases have been reported on the mainland, including 81,649 recoveries and 4,634 deaths, according to the commission.
There were currently seven suspected cases on the mainland, and 6,753 close contacts remained under medical observation.
Tuesday also saw three newly reported asymptomatic cases, including one arriving from outside the mainland. One asymptomatic case was re-categorized as a confirmed case.
A total of 259 asymptomatic cases were under medical observation, including 254 who had arrived from outside the mainland.

By the end of Tuesday, 6,396 confirmed cases, including 109 deaths, had been reported in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), while Macao SAR has recorded 46 confirmed cases and Taiwan has logged 675 cases, including seven deaths.
A total of 5,361 patients in Hong Kong SAR, 46 in Macao SAR and 565 in Taiwan have been discharged from hospitals.
