BEIJING - China's National Health Commission said Friday that it received reports of 17 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Chinese mainland Thursday, two of which were domestically transmitted in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
Fifteen new imported cases were posted in Shanghai, Fujian, Henan, Shandong and Guangdong, the commission said in its daily report.
Shanghai also reported one new suspected imported case it added.

There were no newly reported deaths related to the disease.
Another 12 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery, while 271 others were still receiving treatment, including five in severe condition, according to the commission.
By the end of Thursday, a total of 3,904 imported cases have been reported on the mainland. Among them, 3,666 have been discharged from hospitals while 238 remained hospitalized. No deaths had been reported among the imported cases.
Overall, the mainland has recorded 86,584 confirmed cases, including 81,679 recoveries and 4,634 deaths, according to the commision.

As of Thursday, there were eight suspected cases on the mainland, and 7,077 close contacts remained under medical observation.
Thursday also saw 12 newly reported asymptomatic cases, all arriving from outside the mainland. On the same day, no asymptomatic cases were re-categorized as confirmed cases.
A total of 249 asymptomatic cases were under medical observation, including 243 from outside the mainland, the commission said.
By the end of Thursday, 6,589 confirmed cases, including 111 deaths, have been reported in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), while Macao SAR has recorded 46 cases and Taiwan has logged 686 cases, including seven deaths.
Altogether, 5,423 patients in Hong Kong SAR, 46 in Macao SAR and 572 in Taiwan have been discharged from hospitals.
