1 COVID-19 case found in Chengdu; many tests ordered

CHENGDU - Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan province, reported one new domestically transmitted COVID-19 case on Monday, local authorities said.

Chengdu has activated an emergency plan, allocating 21 teams to conduct epidemiological investigations, carry out nucleic acid testing and disinfect the places visited by the patient

The patient, a 69-year-old woman surnamed Lu, visited a local hospital in Pidu district on Sunday after developing a cough. She tested positive for the coronavirus on Monday and was later diagnosed as a confirmed COVID-19 patient, the provincial health commission said.

Her close contacts have been placed under medical observation.  

All persons who visited the hospital from 8 am on Sunday to 8 am on Monday must get a coronavirus test immediately before Tuesday, the city's health authorities said.

The order includes all patients, their companions, medical personnel and staff at the hospital, as well as anyone who visited the No 11 Group of Taiping village in Pidu district from Nov 23 to Sunday, the Pidu district epidemic prevention and control headquarters said.
