SHENZHEN - The Greater Bay Area Employment Scheme Online Job Expo kicked off on Tuesday, offering Hong Kong youth more than 800 job vacancies in the Chinese mainland cities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Participating employers cover a wide range of industries, including Bank of China (Hong Kong), A.S. Watson Group, Shenzhen-based tech giant Tencent and Huawei, etc
About 30 organizations and enterprises are participating in the two-day event, organized by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government. Hong Kong residents who attained a bachelor’s degree or above from 2019 to 2021 are eligible to apply for career opportunities during the online job fair. Meanwhile, most of the participating employers will also conduct an on-the-spot recruitment event at MacPherson Stadium in Mong Kok.
The government rolled out the Greater Bay Area Youth Employment Scheme in January and pledged to grant participating companies a monthly allowance of HK$10,000 (US$1,288) for each graduate they hire for up to 18 months.

The plan states the applicants employed can receive a monthly salary of at least HK$18,000. According to information on the Labor Department’s website, the highest salary is HK$68,000 per month.
In addition, many companies offer accommodation and transportation allowances. Some employment involves working both in Hong Kong and the mainland city, giving employees a chance to adapt to a new environment.
