COVID-19: Mainland reports 1 new local case in Yunnan

BEIJING/KUNMING - The Chinese mainland on Tuesday reported one new locally transmitted COVID-19 case in Yunnan province, the National Health Commission said Wednesday.

The fresh local case was found in the border city of Ruili during the third round of citywide nucleic acid testing campaign, according to the local health authorities

As of Tuesday, 88 confirmed cases, including four imported ones, as well as 27 asymptomatic cases are receiving treatment or under medical observation in designated hospitals in the province.

Meanwhile, the same day also saw 11 newly reported imported cases on the mainland, the commission said in its daily report.

Two new suspected cases arriving from outside the mainland were reported in Shanghai on Tuesday, the commission said, adding that no additional deaths related to COVID-19 were reported.  

Another seven COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery, said the commission, adding that there were 298 patients still receiving treatment, six of whom were in severe condition.

By the end of Tuesday, 5,454 imported cases had been reported on the mainland with no deaths. 

In total, the mainland had reported a total of 90,447 confirmed cases, including 85,513 recoveries and 4,636 deaths.

There were two suspected COVID-19 cases on the mainland as of Tuesday.

Tuesday also saw 12 new asymptomatic cases, all arriving from outside the mainland, while two asymptomatic cases were re-categorized as confirmed cases.

By the end of Tuesday, 11,607 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 208 deaths, had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), while 49 cases had been reported in the Macao SAR, and 1,062 cases, including 11 deaths, had been reported in Taiwan.

A total of 11,227 COVID-19 patients in the Hong Kong SAR had been discharged from hospitals following recovery, 48 in the Macao SAR, and 1,027 in Taiwan.
