4 preliminary virus cases found in Tai Po, Sham Shui Po testing

HONG KONG -  Four preliminary positive COVID-19 cases were detected during overnight targeted testing operations in Tai Po and Sham Shui Po.

The government said in a statement that 634 people were tested at Serenity Villa, Tai Po Tau, Tai Po and three of them tested preliminarily positive for the virus.

The building was cordoned off at 6 pm on Tuesday after a sewage sample tested positive for the coronavirus, leading to concerns that there might be asymptomatic cases in the area.   

Two hours later, Tung Moon House in Tai Hang Tung Estate, 83 Tai Hang Tung Road, Sham Shui Po was also cordoned off for testing after “a couple of positive cases” involving a COVID-19 mutant strain were detected.

The government said one person tested preliminarily positive for the virus while another “tested indeterminate”. The Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health will follow up the cases.

Government staff members visited about 140 households in Sham Shui Po but eight of them did not answer the door. Fourteen households in Tai Po also did not reply. The government said it will take follow-up measures to ensure they are tested.
