Toluca beat America to reach Liga MX final

MEXICO CITY - Toluca advanced to their first Liga MX final since 2018 by completing a 3-2 aggregate win over Club America on Saturday.

Alejandro Zendejas netted a 35th-minute goal for America to equalize on the night as the hosts grew in confidence. But despite dominating possession and posing a greater threat in attack, America were unable to add to their tally as Toluca kept alive their hopes of a first league title since 2010.

Fernando Ortiz's men will play either Monterrey or Pachuca in the final, to be held over two legs on October 27 and 30.

Pachuca won the first leg of their semifinal 5-2 at home with the return fixture to be played on Sunday.
