BEIJING - Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Nancy Tembo, minister of foreign affairs of Malawi, exchanged congratulatory messages on Wednesday to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the two countries' diplomatic ties.
In his message, Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, noted that in December 2007, China and Malawi formally established diplomatic ties, turning a new page in bilateral relations.
Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 15 years ago, China-Malawi relations have been developing rapidly with political mutual trust increasingly deepened, bilateral cooperation in various fields steadily advancing, and the friendship between the people of the two countries continuously growing, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said

At the new historical starting point, Wang said, he is willing to work with Tembo to well implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, firmly support each other, jointly uphold multilateralism and international equity and justice, and push for new achievements in China-Malawi friendly cooperation within the frameworks of the Belt and Road cooperation and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.
For her part, Tembo said she appreciates the friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries since the establishment of their diplomatic relations.

The Malawian government thanks China for its economic and technical support in a wide range of areas as well as its assistance for Malawi in capacity building and humanitarian aid, she said.
Tembo added that her country is committed to elevating bilateral relations to a new level and unleashing development potential of bilateral cooperation in various fields.
