BEIJING – China and Japan will hold the 15th round of high-level consultations on maritime affairs on April 10 in Tokyo, according to the Chinese foreign ministry.

Officials from foreign ministries, defense ministries, maritime law enforcement, and ocean management departments from both countries would attend the talks, ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said at a press briefing on Friday.

The high-level consultations are a comprehensive mechanism for bilateral communication and coordination.

"China expects to fully exchange views with Japan on sea-related issues between the two countries to enhance mutual understanding and trust," Mao said.

China will promote proper management of differences and pragmatic cooperation, she added.
