Hong Kong's treasury chief to visit Belgium, UK

HONG KONG – Hong Kong’s Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Christopher Hui Ching-yu will depart for a visit to Belgium and the United Kingdom on Wednesday.

Apart from promoting the unique advantages of Hong Kong’s financial service sector, the visit aims to strengthen the bilateral relationship with the two countries as well as the European Commission, according to a government statement.

Hui will visit Brussels from April 13 to 15 and London from 16 to 18.

He will have bilateral meetings with senior officials, financial and business leaders as well as representatives of enterprises in Belgium, the UK, and the European Commission.

The treasury chief will update them on the special administrative region’s financial services development, in particular financial technology and green finance.

He will also attend the Innovate Finance Global Summit 2023 to share views on the theme of virtual assets and Web 3.0, and speak at the Hong Kong Association luncheon.

During Hui’s visit, Under Secretary Joseph Chan Ho-lim will be Acting Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury.
