As of 5 pm on Monday, over 9,500 private cars had been registered online in bids to gain access to the Northbound Travel for Hong Kong Vehicles program, the Transport and Logistics Bureau of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region said.
The online registration program kicked off at 10 am on Monday. Applicants can register for consideration via the program’s official website until 11:59 pm on Tuesday.
The results will be announced on Wednesday morning, and successful applicants will be able to submit their applications via the program’s website from Thursday to June 10
Some unsuccessful registrations were reported earlier in the day due to technical issues, but the problems were fixed at about 1:30 pm, the bureau said.

The results will be announced on Wednesday morning, and successful applicants will be able to submit their applications via the program’s website from Thursday to June 10.
Once approved, applicants will get a Closed Road Permit, costing HK$540 ($69) per year or HK$45 per month, and will be allowed to use their eligible private cars to travel between Hong Kong and Guangdong province via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge effective July 1.
The program’s “ballot system” was introduced to limit the number of applications to be processed, with a cap of 200 applications per working day in the first week and 300 per day from the second week. The daily processing capacity will also be gradually increased if the system operates smoothly, the bureau said.
The balloting will be held twice a month on average. The next round of registrations will be from June 5-8, and the results will be announced on June 9.
