US beats China in FIBA 3x3 World Cup semifinal

VIENNA - China's women's team lost to the United States 20-12 in the semifinal of the 2023 FIBA 3x3 World Cup here on Sunday.

As Tokyo Olympic champions, the United States dispatched a lineup of Hailey Van Lith, Cierra Burdick, Linnae Harper and debutant Cameron Brink to the World Cup.

China suffered a blow as key player Zhang Yi was injured just two minutes into the game and was not able to continue.

The US led 9-3 when China had problems switching their players. Wang Lili and Wan Jiyuan scored from 2-point line and pulled China back to 10-11, but the US sealed the victory with a 9-2 run to secure their final spot. Brink scored a game-high eight points and six rebounds.

China will compete against Australia for the bronze medal later on Sunday, after France defeated Australia 21-17 to meet the US in the final.
