HK commerce chief to visit Japan

HONG KONG - Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Algernon Yau Ying-wah will depart for a visit to Tokyo, Japan, on Sunday afternoon to forge closer economic and trade ties between Hong Kong and Japan and deepen regional cooperation.

Yau will meet with senior government officials of Japan and business leaders to promote Hong Kong's business advantages and opportunities, according to a Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government statement.

He will also officiate at a reception to mark the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Tokyo, it added.

Yau will return to Hong Kong on Wednesday afternoon. Under Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Bernard Chan Pak-li, will be the Acting Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development during Yau's absence.
