TEHRAN - Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman said Saturday that a "recurring element" in US and British foreign policies is intervention, including orchestrating regime change in other countries.
Nasser Kanaani made the remarks in a post on X, previously known as Twitter, to mark the 70th anniversary of the US-British orchestrated military coup in Iran in 1953 that toppled then-democratically-elected Iranian prime minister Mohammad Mosaddegh and reinstated the monarchist dictatorship under the country's king Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, who was overthrown years later in 1979 following the victory of the Islamic Revolution.
Kanaani said 70 years ago, a national government in Iran was overthrown in a coup supported by the United States and Britain.

"Backing dictators, interfering in other states' internal affairs, suppressing freedom-seeking movements and organizing coups are among the recurring elements in the policies of the United States and Britain," he added.
