TOKYO - Japan's weather bureau said on Wednesday the El Nino phenomenon is still continuing from spring and that there was a 90 percent chance it will persist through the northern hemisphere winter.

El Nino is a warming of ocean surface temperatures in the eastern and central Pacific.
