TEHRAN/CAIRO - Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday called for putting an immediate end to the deadly Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip.

They made the appeal in a phone conversation when discussing the latest developments in the enclave, according to a statement published on the website of the Iranian president's office.

Raisi also called for stopping the killing of civilians in Gaza, saying it had enraged the world's "free peoples" and could have transregional consequences.

The president vowed support for the collective effort to achieve an immediate cease-fire in Gaza, lift the siege and allow more humanitarian aid into it.

He also deplored the West's "hypocritical" approach of portraying an "incorrect picture" of the developments in Gaza to gain public approval for "forced displacement of the Palestinian nation on the pretext of fighting terrorism."

Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on Monday called on the Muslim world to increase its political pressures on the United States and Israel to stop the killing of people in Gaza

Raisi denounced the United States as "Israel's main accomplice" due to "its all-out financial, arms and intelligence support for Israel and opposition to proposed resolutions in the UN Security Council that called for an end to the conflict."

For his part, Modi expressed concern over the unfavorable situation in Gaza, condemning "Israel's killing of civilians in the enclave," calling for diplomatic efforts to find a solution to the conflict and prevent its expansion to the rest of the region.

Also on Monday, Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei called on the Muslim world to increase its political pressures on the US and Israel to stop the killing of people in Gaza.

He made the remarks in a meeting with visiting Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani in the Iranian capital Tehran, according to a statement published on the leader's website.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his counterpart Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry stressed on Monday the need to prevent the expansion of the conflict in Gaza

Iran's top leader praised the Iraqi side's support of the people of Gaza, suggesting that Iraq, as an important regional state, could play a special role in pressuring the US and Israel to end their killing of Gaza's people.

He said Iran and Iraq could play an effective role in this regard through coordination with each other.

"The Americans are truly complicit in the Israeli crimes in Gaza," he said. "Israel cannot continue the war if the United States does not provide it with military and political support."

The Iraqi premier, for his part, voiced the support of his country's government, people as well as political circles for the "oppressed" Gazans.

He slammed the international organizations for their silence in the face of the "crimes" in Gaza, adding his country's efforts were entirely focused on firstly, stopping the bombardments of Gaza and secondly, sending aid to the enclave.

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his counterpart Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry stressed on Monday the need to prevent the expansion of the conflict in Gaza.

During a phone conversation, the two top diplomats exchanged assessments on the security and humanitarian situation in Gaza, according to a statement from the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.

Shoukry, during the phone call, reviewed the process of the aid delivery into the Palestinian coastal enclave, said the statement.

The two ministers also discussed preparations for the extraordinary Islamic summit scheduled for Nov 12 in the Saudi capital of Riyadh on Israel's violent assaults on the Gaza Strip.

Additionally, Amir-Abdollahian and his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud on Monday called for holding an emergency summit of the heads of state of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to discuss developments in the Gaza Strip and West Bank during a phone conversation.

The two sides stressed that an OIC meeting should be held to help stop the Israeli attacks against Gaza and the West Bank and prepare the ground for the constant delivery of humanitarian aid to people in Gaza.

The Israel-Hamas conflict has led to the deaths of over 10,000 Palestinians in Gaza, while on the Israeli side, more than 1,400 people have lost their lives, with the majority of deaths in the Hamas attack on Oct 7, which triggered the ongoing conflict.
