HONG KONG – One Hong Kong resident died and two others were injured in a traffic accident in Shaoguan, Guangdong province on Monday afternoon.
The three Hong Kong residents were traveling on board a Chinese mainland-licensed private car when the accident happened, according to a statement released on Tuesday by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Guangdong of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
The office, which received the accident report on Monday night, said it had deployed officers to Shaoguan to provide assistance to the residents and their families.

The office and the Immigration Department of the HKSAR government will continue to closely liaise with the residents and their families to offer all practicable assistance, according to the statement.
