MOSCOW – Russia has demonstrated that it is a self-sufficient country in every respect, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday.
"The main idea that we proved to ourselves and the whole world is that Russia is a self-sufficient country in every sense of the word," the Kremlin quoted the president to be saying at a meeting with the local residents of Anadyr, the capital of Russia's Chukotka Autonomous Area.

"Even Europe's leading economies are undergoing difficult times," Putin said.
While Russia's economy is growing, European economies are experiencing a decline, he added.
Putin said that Europe's dependence on Russia turned out to be stronger than Russia's reliance on Europe.

Russia remains a strong country that continues to look forward with confidence, the Russian leader said, adding that this was one of the most important results of the past year.
