MOSCOW / KYIV - Russia fired cruise and ballistic missiles at Ukraine on Thursday morning, striking facilities in several cities across the country, according to the Ukrainian authorities.
The attacks came after Ukraine confirmed an attack on the Russian landing ship Caesar Kunikov in the Black Sea off the coast of Crimea and a fire broke out at an oil depot in Russia's southern region of Kursk due a Ukrainian drone attack.

Speaking about the Russian missile attack, the head of the regional military administration, Ivan Fedorov, said at least one person was injured after a missile hit an industrial site in the southern city of Zaporizhzhia.
The missiles also struck targets in Ukraine's western city of Lviv, said city Mayor Andriy Sadovyi.
In the central Poltava region, a 100-square-meter warehouse caught fire following an attack, said the regional military administration.
The blasts were also heard in the central Dnipropetrovsk region, regional governor Sergii Lysak said on Telegram.
Moreover, the Ukrainian capital was attacked by missiles of different types from several directions, but they were shot down by the air defense, said the city military administration, adding that the attack caused no casualties or destruction in Kyiv.
Ukrainian attacks
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces confirmed that Ukrainian forces hit the Russian landing ship Caesar Kunikov in the Black Sea off Crimea.
The vessel was hit by "the Armed Forces of Ukraine, together with units of the Main Intelligence Directorate," near the town of Alupka, it said Wednesday on Telegram, without giving further details.
The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said the ship sustained critical holes on the left side as it was attacked by "MAGURA V5" combat sea drones.
The Ukrayinska Pravda media outlet, citing its sources, said the vessel had sunk following the attack.
The Russian side has not confirmed the attack.
Caesar Kunikov is designed for beach landing and can carry up to 500 tons of cargo. It is equipped with AK-725 autocannons and Grad-M rocket launchers, among other weapons.
Earlier this month, the Ukrainian military said it has damaged 25 Russian vessels, or some 33 percent of Russia's Black Sea Fleet, since February 2022.

"According to preliminary information, there are no casualties," Roman Starovoit said.
The governor urged people to remain calm, saying all special services are working on the scene.
