Convener of Hong Kong deputies to the NPC Brave Chan Yung and Hong Kong deputy to the NPC Standing Committee Starry Lee Wai-king addressed the green industry in a bid to cope with the city’s long-term urban waste issue.
Lee, citing previous visits to the GBA, said cities like Jiangmen, Guangdong province, which has been helping Hong Kong take care of construction debris, are also capable of lending a hand to deal with Hong Kong’s municipal solid waste.
According to Chan, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government should increase investment in solid waste disposal, taking its cue from the mainland’s advanced eco-friendly technology which transforms waste into energy for the electricity network.
