HONG KONG - An earthquake with a magnitude of 2.0 struck Lantau Island on Monday afternoon, said the Hong Kong Observatory.
The tremor struck at 1:22 pm near Mui Wo, about 20 kilometers west of the Hong Kong Observatory, with a focal depth of about 10 km, according to the Observatory’s initial analysis.
The HKO said it received over ten local reports of minor shaking, which had lasted a few seconds.

Initial estimates gave a local intensity of three on the Modified Mercalli Intensity Scale, a level that is felt indoors with the vibration like the passing of light trucks, the HKO added.
