HONG KONG - Gathering at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on Saturday, young contestants rendered an impressive performance at the 21st Century Cup National English-Speaking Competition 2024 (Hong Kong Region).
Organized by China Daily and VDO English, an educational arm of China Daily Hong Kong, the competition has been widely acclaimed as one of the most prominent rallying points for English public-speaking enthusiasts in the territory.
Among the officials attending the competition were Deputy Director-General, Department of Publicity, Cultural and Sports Affairs, Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR Lin Nan; Director-General, Department of Youth Affairs, Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR Zhang Zhijhua; Political Counselor, Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the HKSAR Huang Jingrui; Deputy Chief Secretary for Administration Cheuk Wing-hing; and Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs Alice Mak Mei-kuen.
