Henry Fan Hung-ling, chairman of the Hospital Authority (HA), expressed confidence on Thursday about the HA’s ability to recruit 250 non-locally trained doctors by the end of this year to address a manpower shortage.
Once the bottleneck in human resources has been eased, Hong Kong's public hospitals will be able to further enhance their exchanges with their Chinese mainland counterparts, Fan said at the opening ceremony of the HA’s annual convention.
Fan said the HA’s global recruitment plan began last year and has made significant progress, with about 150 non-locally trained doctors having been hired so far
The convention is being held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, in both physical and virtual formats, on May 16 and 17, with around 160 local and international speakers having been invited to share their insights and expertise over the two days.
