HONG KONG – Officials from the Chinese mainland and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region signed a memorandum of understanding on Thursday to enhance food safety cooperation and information exchange.
Christine Wong Wang, Controller of the HKSAR government’s Centre for Food Safety, and Wang Yongting, Deputy Director General of the China National Center for Food Safety Risk Assessment, signed the MoU to bolster food safety standards and practices through collaborative efforts.
The CFS and the CFSA will facilitate mutual visits and exchanges by food safety experts and academics, staff training and work experience sharing between the mainland and the HKSAR
"Under the framework of the MoU, the mainland and Hong Kong will carry out food safety risk exchanges and cooperation, including work exchanges on total diet study and academic exchanges,” a CFS spokesman said.

Both agencies will facilitate mutual visits and exchanges by food safety experts and academics, staff training and work experience sharing between the mainland and Hong Kong, he added.
The CFS is a regulatory agency under the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department of the HKSAR government. It is tasked with ensuring food safety in Hong Kong through risk assessment, risk management, and risk communication.
