HONG KONG - Chief Secretary for Administration Eric Chan Kwok-ki will leave for Geneva, Switzerland on Monday to attend the plenary meeting of the United Nations Human Rights Council as the deputy head of China's delegation.
Chan will be joined by representatives of the Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau and the Department of Justice at the meeting, which will discuss the report on China of the UNHRC’s Working Group on the Universal Periodic Review, according to a Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government statement.
Chan and the other HKSAR government officials will attend the meeting as members of China's delegation, it added.
The working group earlier held meetings in January and examined the fourth report submitted by China under the UPR mechanism, which includes a part concerning the HKSAR, and adopted it.

Chan will return to Hong Kong on July 5. During his absence, Deputy Chief Secretary for Administration Cheuk Wing-hing will be the Acting Chief Secretary for Administration.
