WUHAN - The 10-man Wuhan Three Towns clinched a hard-fought 2-1 away victory against Beijing Guoan, ending the hosts' seven-game winning streak on home ground in the 2024 Chinese Super League on Sunday.

With the score at 0-0, Wuhan right-back Deng Hanwen was shown a red card in the 33rd minute after two yellow cards incurred when fouling Guoan striker Li Lei. However, Wuhan managed to take the lead ten minutes later, when Pedro Henrique's powerful shot went into the far corner.

Beijing lost their numerical advantage in the 63rd minute, with Mamadou Traore being sent off after a foul, and Wuhan extended their lead in the 82nd minute with Liu Yue's volley. In the dying seconds, Fabio Abreu scored for Guoan, but it proved to be nothing more than a consolation.

"We knew that facing a strong team as Guoan away from home would be really hard, so we prepared seriously this week. And although a teammate was shown a red card soon after the start, we still tried to take the initiative and stayed united to win," said Henrique after the game. "Now we just have to keep our feet on the ground and get ready for the next game," he added.
