BEIJING – Xi Jinping, chairman of the Central Military Commission, on Tuesday signed an order to commend an outstanding military unit and an individual.

Troop 92950 of the People's Liberation Army was honored with a first-class merit citation.

Liu Aijun of the Army Engineering University of the PLA was honored a third-class merit citation in defense-related science and technology.

At a ceremony held by the CMC in Beijing, Xi conferred a flag of honor on a PLA army company, which was awarded the honorary title of "Model Rocket Artillery Company".

Representatives of the awarded unit saluted Xi, also the general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Chinese president, before accepting the flag. Xi extended his congratulations.

At the ceremony, Zhang Youxia, vice chairman of the CMC, read out an order to grant the honorary title signed by Xi. He Weidong, another vice chairman of the CMC, presided over the ceremony.

The Chinese leader presented a certificate of order to promote He Hongjun, executive deputy director of the Political Work Department of the CMC, to the rank of general, the highest rank for officers in active service in China.

Xi extended his congratulations to the officer.
