The traditional-Chinese version of three books featuring President Xi Jinping’s works and remarks made their debut at this year’s Hong Kong Book Fair on Wednesday — the first day of the city’s annual iconic event.
They are the first two volumes of the Selected Readings From the Works of Xi Jinping, as well as Xi Jinping: Chinese Modernization, published and distributed by Sino United Publishing (Holdings) Ltd.
The new editions have been prominently promoted in Hong Kong and Macao bookstores since Wednesday.
A book launching and publishing ceremony was held at the fair on Wednesday to introduce the new versions.
Selected Readings from the Works of Xi Jinping vividly records the great historic process led by the Communist Party of China Central Committee with Xi at the core in creating a new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
The book focuses on the major theoretical innovations achieved by the Communists of the new era in advancing Marxism. It also showcases the mission and responsibility of the Communist Party of China for the development of the country and nation, as well as the future of humanity.
It is an authoritative work that comprehensively reflects Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.
The book of Xi’s discourses on Chinese modernization systematically reflects Xi’s profound elucidation of the rich connotations of Chinese modernization, including its Chinese characteristics, essential requirements, and major principles.
It highlights the innovative breakthroughs in theory and practice of Chinese modernization since the 18th CPC National Congress, showcasing the new path of Chinese modernization, the new form of human civilization, and the new landscape of modernization.
The traditional-Chinese editions will help Hong Kong and Macao readers deepen their understanding of Xi’s thought, as well as the theories and practices of China’s unique modernization process, according to a statement from Sino United Publishing (Holdings) Ltd.
This is of great significance in boosting the national identity of residents in the special administrative regions and encouraging them to jointly contribute to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, the statement says.
Various government officials, including Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu, as well as representatives from political and publishing sectors, attended the book-launching forum.
