PARIS - South Korea's archer Kim Woo-jin eased into the men's individual 1/8 elimination round with two 6-0 wins here on Tuesday, while China's An Qixuan and Yang Xiaolei were eliminated.
Kim showed his ability as Olympic record holder with a score of 88 out of 90 in the 1/32 round against Israel Madaye of Chad, following by an almost perfect 89 out of 90 in the 1/16 round against Lin Zih-siang of Chinese Taipei.
"Our team was trying to defend the many victories we've built up. That's a lot of pressure. We're trying to keep up the good work and persevere with that ongoing pressure," said Kim.
China's archer An lost to Azerbaijan's Yaylagul Ramazanova 5-6 in the women's individual 1/32 elimination round. The two archers shot all the way to the shoot-off with a 4-4 tie, and Ramazanova won with 10 in the final round against An's 9.

An's teammate Yang won the 1/32 elimination round against Rihab Elwalid of Tunisia but was defeated in the 1/16 round by France's Lisa Barbelin.
Reigning champion Mete Gazoz of Turkiye also secured a ticket to the 1/8 elimination round.
