Chinese shuttlers secure women's doubles gold at Paris Olympics

PARIS - China has ensured a one-two finish in badminton women's doubles after two Chinese duos beat their respective opponents in the semifinals at the Paris Olympics on Friday.

Top seeds Chen Qingchen and Jia Yifan overcame Malaysia's Tan Pearly and Thinaah Muralitharan in a three-set battle, with scores of 21-12, 18-21, and 21-15.

The other Chinese pair Liu Shengshu and Tan Ning beat Japan's Nami Matsuyama and Chiharu Shida in straight sets 21-16, 21-19 to advance to the final.

The women's doubles final will be staged on Saturday.
