SEOUL - Four domestic and foreign automakers in South Korea will voluntarily recall some 172,000 vehicles for manufacturing defects, the transport ministry said Thursday.

BMW Korea will recall 113,197 units of 98 different models, including BMW 320d, for faulty airbag module inflator, according to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

A wiring error of the second-row seats prompted a recall on 43,926 units of two models, including Santa Fe, from Hyundai Motor Kia Corp. will repair the poor durability of the hydraulic electronic control unit (HECU) in 15,763 units of Soul model.

KGM Commercial will take corrective actions on 52 units of Smart 110E electric bus model due to defective steering system.
Vehicle owners can visit repair and service centers to replace the faulty parts free of charge.
