HONG KONG - Heavy rain struck Hong Kong on Monday morning, with the amber rainstorm warning signal in force for a while.
The Hong Kong Observatory issued the amber rainstorm warning signal at 7:55 am and canceled it at 10 am. More than 30 millimeters of rainfall were recorded over many places this morning.
The city's weather forecaster said under the influence of upper-air disturbances and a southwesterly airstream, there will be heavy showers and thunderstorms over the coast of Guangdong in the next couple of days.
A broad trough of low pressure is expected to linger over the coast of southern China in the middle and latter parts of this week and the weather will remain unsettled over the region, the observatory added.
China Daily photographer Adam Lam took the photos.
