Hong Kong’s population recorded a slight increase in the first six months of the year to over 7.53 million people amid an inflow of global talent, according to official data released on Thursday.
The city’s population rose to 7,531,800 as of mid-2024, or an increase of 0.1 percent from the end of 2023, according to data from the Census and Statistics Department.
A Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government spokesperson said that due to various measures on attracting talent and labor importation, the SAR saw a sizable inflow of persons from the Chinese mainland and other places around the world in the first half of 2024.
