BEIJING - The State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters activated on Sunday a Level-IV emergency response to possible flooding in Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei and Shanxi.
From Sunday to Monday, there will be heavy rains in most parts of Beijing and Tianjin, the central and southern parts of Hebei province, as well as the central and northern parts of Shanxi. Torrential rains have been forecast in some parts of the regions.
China has a four-tier emergency response system for flood control, with Level I being the most urgent response.
Meanwhile, two bureaus have activated Level-IV emergency responses aimed at flooding control and defense in the Haihe River, according to the Haihe River Water Conservancy Commission under the Ministry of Water Resources.
Rain ranging from heavy to torrential is expected in the Haihe River Basin on Aug 25 and 26, according to meteorological forecasts.

It is required that relevant departments enhance duty shifts and information reporting, and effectively carry out all flood and drought disaster defense measures to ensure the safety of people's lives and property.
