Southern boomtown Shenzhen in Guangdong province is building the world’s largest indoor ski resort, Huafa Ice and Snow World, with a 450-meter ski track. It is scheduled to open in October next year.
The facility covers about 100,000 square meters, equivalent to 11 soccer fields, and also features the world’s most professional ski tracks. One of the ski drops will be 83 meters long, topping the national rankings.

According to the 2023 World Indoor Snow Centers Guide, China already has the world’s three largest indoor snow centers, and the current record holder is located in the northeast city of Harbin, Heilongjiang province.
The Huafa resort will be capable of hosting national and international ski competitions, as well as professional training courses. The aim is to develop it into an influential base for ice and snow sports in South China.

The project’s total investment is about 29.6 billion yuan ($4.2 billion), and it will include a complex of themed hotels and shopping centers. Construction of the ski resort’s steel structure is now in the final stages of completion.
