The Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao Special Administrative Region on Sunday hailed the successful conclusion of the city’s sixth-term chief executive election as another "living embodiment" and successful practice of the “one country, two systems” principle.

Congratulating Sam Hou-fai on his resounding victory, the liaison office said the election was unprecedented and a landmark as the first important poll held under the newly-amended Chief Executive Election Law.

Sam – Macao’s former top judge – secured 394 votes from members of the 400-strong Chief Executive Election Committee to become the city’s next leader.
