Mentorship program aims to empower business students in HK

HONG KONG – The Hong Kong Federation of Business Students on Thursday launched the 2024 edition of its mentorship program which connects university students with experienced professionals across the business sector.

The federation organized a launching ceremony of the 2024 mentorship program titled the "Quest to Excellence" at a city hotel.

First launched two decades ago, the program helps over 300 university students annually arranging mentorship for them. The mentors of the program are from J. P. Morgan, UBS, HSBC, Bank of America, BNP Paribas, Oliver Wyman, etc.

Expressing gratitude to those involved with the program, Sky Wong, this year's project director, encouraged mentees to dream big and never give up.

Joshua Li, another project director, highlighted the transformative nature of the program and urged mentees to learn from mentors and share their ambitions and goals.

Among others who spoke at the event were Christopher Eoyang, ex-partner at Goldman Sachs; Johannes Hack, president of the German Chamber of Commerce; and Jason Ho, Asia head of FTI Capital Advisors.

Eoyang stressed the importance of preparation, feedback, and storytelling in mentorship relationships.

Emphasizing the significance of work attitude and forward thinking in the banking industry, Ho, an honorary advisor of HKFBS, expressed his optimism about future financial market.

Hack, meanwhile, encouraged mentees to step out of their comfort zones and get things done.

Since its establishment in 1985, HKFBS – a non-profit organization run by local business undergraduates – has served more than 20,000 members of local universities.
