China recorded 4.747 million marriages in the first three quarters of this year, down 943,000 year-on-year, the Ministry of Civil Affairs said on Friday.

Meanwhile, the number of divorces dropped by 6,000 during the same period to 1.967 million, the ministry said in a quarterly report published on its website.
